“We must ensure that we help Inspiration convert to Education”
Education and outreach are a core part of the #Africa2Moon Mission. 25% of all the initial funding raised will be used to promote STEM education through dedicated #Africa2Moon workshops for educators and learners and through numerous public engagement activities in partnership with other entities engaged in STEM education and science awareness and outreach activities.
Broad participation is an imperative and participants from outlying areas that need support will be provided subsidized transportation and housing when & where required.
Many aspects of the mission will be open to public participation during the development phase, such as the naming of the spacecraft and/or instruments and recording names and brief messages to be sent to the Moon. There will also be opportunities for public engagement and participation during the operational phase of the mission.
Once the mission is operational the hashtag #Moon2Africa will become an educational “meeting place” for ideas and opportunities to use this achievement to promote STEM education in Africa.
